Mike Rathke

Co-Host of The PRAZOR House

Mike Rathke is a Kansas native who grew up poor in a rural trailer court with his mother and two siblings. He got his musical background from his mother, who was a graduate from the Juilliard School of Dance, but she struggled with mental health issues. As a result, all three children moved away from home at an early age. At the age 12 Mike left home and moved from house to house, sleeping on the couches of friends and eventually dropped out of high school. His sister encouraged him to get his GED and eventually he went on to study Worship and Technical Arts at Christ For the Nations in Dallas Texas. He also earned a Bachelor degree in Film and Communications from George Fox University in Oregon.

His first adventure in the realm of music production came with three self-produced albums, Letters From the Father, Spoken Words and the Word That’s Spoken, and Never Change. Mike produced these albums while working part time as a worship leader in Oregon. His latest EP “The Dawning Fire” was recorded in Nashville in July of 2019 with his first single “The Dawning Fire” releasing on December 6, 2019. The album was produced by Billy Chapin (Backstreet Boys, Sister Hazel, Edwin McCain) and co-produced by Brandon Bailey. The songs contained in this album reflect Mike’s passion for biblical lyrics encased in a tasteful bed of modern folk music. The album has been critically acclaimed around the world and has had recognition on radio, podcasts, internet and blogs. The official music videos for The Dawning Fire EP have reached over a million views on Youtube.

Mike’s new album “The Discipline of Dismay” will be released in fall of 2020 through Four Core Music.

Mike also serves at PRAZOR as the manager of music streaming and is the co-host for The PRAZOR House podcast. He is also working towards his Master degree in screenwriting and production at Regent University.

Mike is the son of a carpenter and enjoys making things out of wood or repurposing old furniture in his free time. He also has ZERO sports references and has been known to sabotage sports conversations in the office with nonsensical data or ridiculous movie quotes.
